Running a frontline business is an operational puzzle most software has never touched. Shift-by-shift labour costs, compliance that changes by region and by role, and margins thin enough that a badly built rota can sink a quarter. It's a harder problem than most white-collar SaaS, and yet frontline sectors employ 80% of the global workforce and have received about 1% of the last decade's software investment. We think that's because the problem needed AI, not just better software, before it was solvable. Frontline organisations sit on enormous amounts of operational data. Used properly, that data lets agents take on real parts of running the business rather than just reporting on it. That's what we're building at Sona, and it's early enough that the systems you build now will still be foundational in three years. We've raised over $100M from N47, Felicis, Gradient and Northzone, signed more than 100 enterprise customers across the UK and US, and opened offices in London, New York, Austin and Lisbon. More on working at Sona here. About the Role We're hiring Senior Software Engineers to join our product teams and help build the next generation of workforce management. This isn't a traditional engineering role - at Sona, engineers are deeply embedded in the product development process, working directly with customers to understand their pain points and turning those insights into shipped solutions. AI tooling is central to how we work. Coding agents produce the majority of our code, and your job is to direct, correct, and architect - not type every line yourself. You'll use tools like Claude Code, Cursor, or similar as a core part of your daily workflow, and we'll assess that proficiency as part of the interview process. To do that well, you need strong Elixir expertise - enough to know when an agent's output is wrong and how to fix it. Day to day, you'll work within a cross-functional product team with significant autonomy over how to reach outcomes. You'll participate in defining features and scope from PR FAQs and kick-off conversations rather than picking up fully specified tickets. You'll also have the opportunity to rotate across different product domains throughout the year - scheduling, payroll, HR, staff engagement - giving you breadth that most engineering roles don't offer. This role is remote-first for anyone based in a European timezone, with quarterly in-person team alignment sessions and client workshops in London. It's not a fully isolated remote setup - you'll need flexibility to travel for the moments that matter. Responsibilities Own features end-to-end across Sona's platform, from scoping through to delivery, including in the mobile app Use AI development tooling as your primary workflow - directing and evaluating agent-produced code, not writing everything from scratch Work directly with customers through workshops, feedback sessions, and discovery conversations to ensure what you build solves real problems Collaborate closely with Product Managers and Product Designers to shape solutions from vague requirements and kick-off outputs Contribute to multiple product domains across the year, building deep understanding of workforce management challenges Participate in the product development process - challenging scope, suggesting approaches, and making pragmatic trade-offs between the ideal solution and the right for now Requirements You're a senior engineer who's comfortable owning features from scoping to production - not just executing against a spec You have professional Elixir experience - enough to evaluate and correct agent-produced code in a production codebase AI development tooling is already embedded in how you work, not something you've experimented with or twice. You can articulate your workflows and demonstrate them under pressure You care about understanding customer problems as much as solving technical, and you're comfortable being in front of customers directly You communicate clearly and concisely - adapting for technical and non-technical audiences alike You're pragmatic: you can let go of a strongly held opinion when the situation calls for it, and you make trade-offs consciously Bonus: full-stack experience including React Native, background at a product-led engineering team or high-growth B2B SaaS company, or familiarity with HR/workforce management domains Benefits Salary: £85-105k Remote-first (Europe timezone) with quarterly in-person sessions and client workshops in London Share options 35 days annual leave (25 days standard plus 10 flexible public holiday days) Extra day of leave for every year of service Pension contributions matched up to 5% Comprehensive health insurance Enhanced parental leave & pay Salary sacrifice childcare scheme (Workplace Nursery) Co-working space stipend for those based outside London Annual all expenses paid team retreats The latest Macbook and equipment budget for your home office Professional development budget Unlimited free books Note: this represents a typical salary and benefits package for a UK-based, full-time employee. Exact details may vary based on location and employment type but we try to be as fair as possible to all of our team members. Please ask your contact in the Talent team to clarify the available benefits for you.

Synthesia is the world’s leading AI video platform for business, used by over 90% of the Fortune 100. Founded in 2017, the company is headquartered in London, with offices and teams across Europe and the US. As AI continues to shape the way we live and work, Synthesia develops products to enhance visual communication and enterprise skill development, helping people work better and stay at the center of successful organizations. Following our recent Series E funding round, where we raised $200 million, our valuation stands at $4 billion. Our total funding exceeds $530 million from premier investors including Accel, NVentures (Nvidia's VC arm), Kleiner Perkins, GV, and Evantic Capital, alongside the founders and operators of Stripe, Datadog, Miro, and Webflow. About the role Synthesia ships more product, faster, than we ever have. AI has collapsed the cost of building which means the hard part is no longer making things, it’s making sure people actually adopt them. That’s the job of Growth, and we’re changing how we do it: instead of bolting Growth on after launch to optimise, we’re embedding a Growth PM into every core bet from day, so how a product acquires, activates and scales is designed in from the first cycle. We’re hiring a Growth Product Manager to report to our VP of Growth. You'll own the Growth surface for of those bets while helping build a growth-led way of working across the company. What you’ll be doing Own Growth for a core product area end to end, acquisition, activation, adoption and retention, baked into the roadmap from the start, not retrofitted. Partner closely with the core product PMs and engineers who own the surface, bringing high-impact growth ideas and working out where they fit, and getting the primitives exposed that let you build and scale on top. Design growth into the product itself: discovery-led acquisition loops, and experiences that get users to their job-to-be-done in a couple of clicks (sometimes without opening the editor at all). Rally teams around specific, measurable outcomes and help each hit its goal faster through what you build together. Work across engineering, marketing and GTM to make funnel- and journey-thinking a normal part of how we build. Who you are AI-native. You’ve driven AI into how a product or team works - not just worked somewhere that does AI. You use it daily, you’re curious about how the stack works, and you keep up as it moves (fast). Scrappy and comfortable in ambiguity. You’ve taken something 0→1, you move fast, and you don’t need a clean brief or a stable roadmap to make progress. Constant change energises you rather than blocking you. A builder of credibility. You win trust across teams quickly and can get engineers, PMs and GTM aligned around growth - even when that’s a new way of working for them. Technically fluent and genuinely curious. You can hold your own with engineers on how things work and where the trade-offs are. Outcome-driven. You anchor on the right metric and move it. Requirements Experience as a Product Manager with exposure to Growth. Depth in a single specific lever is a plus, not a prerequisite. Demonstrable experience driving AI-native product or ways of working. Comfortable in a fast-moving, 0→1, frequently-disrupted environment. Strong communication and the personality to build credibility and influence across functions. Technical fluency to partner credibly with engineering. Location Remote from Europe or hybrid based from our London or Munich offices. Our culture At Synthesia we’re passionate about building, not talking, planning or politicising. We strive to hire the smartest, kindest and most unrelenting people and let them do their best work without distractions. Our work principles serve as our charter for how we make decisions, give feedback and structure our work to empower everyone to go as fast as possible. You can find out more about these principles here. Global benefits: You will be compensated well with a generous salary and equity. You get 25 days of annual leave + local holidays. Regular team offsites where you’ll get to collaborate with the product & engineering team in person. Work from home budget Work from anywhere policy of 60 days per year Generous referral scheme Enhanced parental leave - maternity leave includes 16 weeks at full pay, and paternity leave includes 5 weeks at full pay (if your country’s government scheme offers more generous support, you receive whichever is greater - our enhanced policy or the local statutory benefit) Benefits specific to UK: Private healthcare via AXA for you with a discount for dependants 5% pension match Team lunches Tuesday-Friday in the office Flexible, hybrid role based from our London office.

About the role Synthesia Roleplay Sessions is a training tool that lets people practice real conversations with AI avatars. Instead of just watching training videos, learners do interactive roleplay exercises, like practicing a sales pitch or handling a customer complaint with an AI coach. The AI gives instant feedback so people know what they did well and what to improve. Managers can use a dashboard to track which employees have completed their training, see how well they performed, and measure if the training actually improved their skills. The whole platform is built around learning by doing rather than just passive video watching. For your ML engineer role, you'd be building the AI engine that makes the coaching work. That means creating the models that listen to what learners say during roleplay, score their performance, generate helpful feedback in real time, and decide how the AI avatar should respond next based on what the learner does. This is an applied ML position, not a research.
