Accessibility Statement
Conformance Status
JobMelo (jobmelo.com) is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people of all abilities, including jobseekers with visual, hearing, motor, or cognitive impairments. We strive to conform to Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA standards in full alignment with the Equality Act 2010 (United Kingdom).
Accessibility Features
This website incorporates comprehensive accessibility features to ensure an inclusive experience for all visitors:
- Skip to Main Content: A “Skip to Main Content” link is provided as the first focusable element on every page, allowing keyboard and screen reader users to bypass repetitive header and navigation components.
- Text Resize Controls: An accessibility toolbar at the top of every page provides text size adjustment (A−, A, A+) controls. Text can be scaled up to 150% without loss of layout integrity or functionality.
- High Contrast Mode: A one-click high contrast toggle is available in the toolbar, increasing foreground-background contrast for users with low vision or colour sensitivity.
- Keyboard Navigation: All interactive elements (links, buttons, form fields, filter chips) are fully operable via keyboard alone, supported by a distinct yellow focus indicator.
- Semantic HTML5 Structure: Pages use standard semantic elements (<header>, <nav>, <main>, <footer>, <section>, <article>) and ARIA landmarks to assist assistive technologies in navigating content.
- Logical Heading Hierarchy: Headings follow a sequential order (H1 → H2 → H3) without skipping levels, enabling screen reader users to scan page outlines accurately.
- Image Alt Text: All meaningful images include descriptive alternative text. Decorative icons and symbols use
aria-hidden="true"to prevent unnecessary announcements. - Form Labels: Every form input is associated with a descriptive label using the
htmlForattribute or explicitaria-label. - Color Contrast: Text and essential interactive components meet or exceed the WCAG 2.1 AA minimum contrast ratio of 4.5:1 for standard text and 3:1 for UI elements.
- Responsive Design: The website dynamically adapts to all viewports (mobile, tablet, desktop) and supports zoom up to 400% without horizontal scrolling.
- Descriptive Links: External links clearly indicate destinations and use
rel="noopener noreferrer"for enhanced security.
Technologies Used
The accessibility of JobMelo relies on standard web technologies:
- HTML5
- CSS3 / Tailwind CSS
- JavaScript (ECMAScript 2024)
- WAI-ARIA 1.2
- Next.js (Server-Side Rendering for fast accessibility evaluation)
Known Limitations
While we strive for comprehensive conformance, the following areas depend on external providers:
- Third-party advertisements: Any third-party ads served via sandboxed iframes (such as Google AdSense) are rendered by third-party ad networks, and their internal accessibility is managed by their respective publishers.
- External employer application portals: When candidates click “Apply Now” to complete applications on external employer or ATS platforms, the accessibility of those destination websites is governed by the individual employers.
